Dr Mark Neilan

Senior Clinic Veterinarian (BVSc, Dip.An.Chiro)

Mark graduated from University of Queensland in 1978 and immediately commenced work in Victoria in dairy and equine practice.

After years of finding that conventional treatments didn’t always meet the needs of his patients and clients he did post graduate studies through RMIT and became qualified as an Animal Chiropractor. He now finds that the combination of veterinary and chiropractic skills allow him to provide a wider range of treatment options for patients.

Dr Chris DaSilva

Veterinarian (MVB)

Chris grew up in the English countryside and moved to Ireland to study veterinary medicine in 2012. He graduated as a veterinarian from University College Dublin in 2017 and, looking for somewhere new, landed here in Maffra. 

Chris has settled in well to life in Gippsland and enjoys exploring the local area and playing soccer. He has 2 cats – Zoey and Apollo. 

Dr Belinda Adams

Veterinarian (BVSc)

Bel grew up in Maffra and graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2004 (BVSc).

Her Vet career has taken her all around Australia, as well as a couple of years in the UK, fostering her love of travel. Bel is embracing being back in Gippsland with her own children, who delight in helping out with wildlife care & kitten fostering. 


Dr Natalie Buckingham

Veterinarian (BVSc (Hons))

Natalie graduated from Melbourne university (with hons) in 2010, she then went to practice in a mixed clinic in the Dandenong Ranges for 3 years before focusing on small animal medicine. Natalie settled in Gippsland and joined our team in mid-2021. Natalie loves travelling (even practicing veterinary medicine in Dubai), cooking, gardening and spending time with her two young children, husband & two chickens.

Megan Walker

Senior Vet Nurse (Cert IV Veterinary Nursing, Level 3 Professional Groomer, Cert IV Training & Assessment )

Megan is one of our longest standing members of staff, joining our practice full-time in early 2010. She completed her Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing in 2012, Level 3 Professional Grooming Qualification in 2015 & Certificate IV TAE in 2022. 

Meg plays a key role in the administration of the Practice, ensuring the vets have all the assistance they need to work efficiently - maintaining clinical equipment, stock control & drug handling.

Meg's passion lies in neonatal care, emergency/critical care hospital treatment & physiotherapy rehabilitation. Meg keeps busy by enjoying adventures with her family, and relaxing with her cat Crumpet. 


Katrina Askew

Front Office Manager

Katrina is our friendly receptionist who joined our team in 2016. You will often be greeted by her when phoning or calling in to the clinic. She is happy to help you with any questions or enquiries you may have.

Katrina is kept entertained by her fur babies at home which include 2 demanding kitties - Spider & Apple.

Catherine Taylor

Senior Vet Nurse (Cert IV Veterinary Nursing)

Catherine began her veterinary nursing career in 2001. She studied at Box Hill while working in local practises. Joining the Animal Clinic team in 2007 and continued her career until 2013 when she took a break to concentrate on her family.

Catherine's love for animals drew her back to the clinic in 2018, where her passion provides the best care for our patients.

In her spare time you will find her spending time with her family and her much loved fur babies - 'Gus' the German wirehaired Pointer, 'Kai' and 'Arlo' her cherished kitties and her bunny 'Otto'.

Bianca Niziolek

Senior Vet Nurse (Cert IV Veterinary Nursing)

Bianca started working as a Vet Nurse in 2007 and later qulified in 2010.

Since then she has worked in various different clinics around South East Melbourne before moving to South East Gippsland in May and starting employment at The Maffra Animal Clinic.

Bianca's spare time is spent with her Human babies Nelly and Hazel and 5 fur babies Trixy, Bingo, Gingy ,Skippy and Patsy.

Natalie Green

Assistant Nurse (Diploma of Animal Technology)

Natalie completed her Diploma of Animal technology in 2013 and worked for Monash University, in medical research for 8 years, dealing with Non-human primates, Sheep and pigs. Nat also worked as a kennel hand for Eastside Boarding Kennels for three years.

In July 2020, Natalie decided it was time for a change, and found herself here at Animal Clinic Maffra.

In her spare time, you will find Nat at the gym, or spending time outdoors with her fur baby Cody and her Husband.

Hailey Hornstra

Veterinary Nurse

Hailey joined our team in 2022, as well as commencing her studies for Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing.
Hailey has always had a passion for animals and has always wanted to be a Veterinary Nurse from a very young age. Hailey also has a strong passion for fostering as many fur babies as she can.

Her spare time is spent with her family and her 3 beloved pets Loki, Arlo and Toulouse.

Miranda Smith

Trainee Veterinary Nurse

Miranda has recently joined us at the clinic, commencing her studies for Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing in April 2023. Miranda has previously worked in the Australian Defence Force within Security Forces, alongside experienced dog handlers. Miranda also works at a pet resort/boarding kennel where she expands her knowledge of our canine companions. Miranda loves to keep busy by adventuring with her partner and two German Shepherds, Nala & Jameson.

Alannah Prow


Alannah joined our team early in 2023. With a passion for grooming & animal care services, Alannah has extensive knowledge in pampering pets! 


Practice Mascot (Degree in Purr-fection)

Benjamin joined our paw-some team in 2017, after being surrendered to the clinic with a broken leg.

This cheeky 3-legged kitty spends his days greeting clients & their pets, breaking into food & treats or paw-ssibly lazing on his rug at reception. Purr-haps you will see Benjamin hi5 or dance for a treat, but don’t let this purr-fect Bengal fool you, he has quite the cat-titude!
